Biography
Dan Aykroyd was an original member of the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” on Saturday Night Live (1975-1979) during which he co-created the Blues Brothers from a sketch he performed with John Belushi which turned into an actual touring performance band and the 1980 musical comedy film, The Blues Brothers. Aykroyd also conceived and starred in the hit movie Ghostbusters (1984) which spawned an entire media franchise.
In 1990, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1989 film Driving Miss Daisy. He starred in his own sitcom, Soul Man (1997-1988) and is also a businessman, having co-founded the House of Blues chain of music venues and the Crystal Head Vodka brand.
