Tin Cup is the story of Roy ‘Tin Cup’ McAvoy (Kevin Costner), a golf pro who had a bright future but whose bad attitude and rebellious nature cost him everything. Now working as a golf instructor and who works and lives at a run-down driving range which he manages with his sidekick and caddy, Romeo Posar (Cheech Marin) in the West Texas tin pot town of Salome. Roy ends up falling for his newest pupil, Dr. Molly Griswold (Rene Russo), a psychiatrist who happens to be the girlfriend of slick PGA Tour superstar and Roy’s rival, David Simms (Don Johnson). After he is humiliated by Simms at a celebrity golf tournament, McAvoy decides he is going to win Molly’s heart and decides to try to qualify for the US Open.
