Date Night is the story of Phil (Steve Carell) and Claire (Tina Fey) Foster, a bored married couple who plan a glamorous romantic night out at a chic Manhattan restaurant. When they arrive there are no tables available and they don’t have reservations and the uppity host tells them there is a six month waiting list to eat at Claw. Worried that the spark has gone from their marriage and wanting a special night out together, when the snooty Maitre D’ calls out the name Tripplehorn multiple times, Phil impulsively claims a reservation stating they are the Tripplehorn’s. The ploy seems to have worked, until two heavies interrupt their meal asking if they are the Tripplehorn’s and demand they follow them outside. The Foster’s think they’ve been busted for taking someone else’s reservation. The two thugs, Armstrong (Jimmi Simpson) and Collins (Common) escort them outside and ask for their IDs and cell phones and demand that the Tripplehorn’s return a stolen flash drive they stole from mob boss, Joe Miletto (Ray Liotta) which they know nothing about.
