Million Dollar Baby is the story of veteran Los Angeles boxing trainer Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) who keeps everyone at arm’s length except for his old friend and associate Eddie ‘Scrap-Iron’ Dupris (Morgan Freeman).  When Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) shows up in Frankie’s gym seeking a trainer, he is very reluctant to train a woman boxer but after she shows up every day and asks for his help, he eventually relents and tells her he will show her some things and then she needs to get a real trainer.  The two form a close bond that will irrevocably change them both as she moves through the ranks and beats most of her competition.

Movie Quotes

“If there’s magic in boxing, it’s the magic of fighting battles beyond endurance, beyond cracked ribs, ruptured kidneys and detached retinas. It’s the magic of risking everything for a dream that nobody sees but you.” – Eddie ‘Scrap-Iron’ Dupris
“I’ve got nobody but you, Frankie” – Maggie Fitzgerald
“Well, you’ve got me.” – Frankie Dunn

“Frankie, I’ve seen you at Mass almost every day for 23 years. The only person comes to church that much is the kind who can’t forgive himself for something.” – Father Horvak

“Boxing is an unnatural act. Cos everything in it is backwards. You wanna move to the left, you don’t step left, you push on the right tow. to move right, you use your left toe. Instead of running from the pain – like a sane person would do, you step into it.” – Eddie ‘Scrap-Iron’ Dupris
