Young Guns is the story of the adventures of William H. Bonney (Emilio Estevez) better known as Billy the Kid during the Lincoln County War, which took place in New Mexico during the late 1870’s. John Tunstall (Terence Stamp), a distinguished British gentleman, employs downtrodden young men to work on his ranch and tend his cattle herd on the New Mexican frontier while providing shelter and teaching them to read and write.
Tunstall is a thorn in the side of the rich neighboring rancher, Lawrence G. Murphy (Jack Palance) and competes with him selling cattle. When Tunstall is gunned down by the crooked Murphy, Tunstall’s ragtag group of cow hands including William Bonney, Doc Scurlock (Kiefer Sutherland), Richard Brewer (Charlie Sheen), Steve Stephens (Dermot Mulroney), Charlie Bowdre (Casey Siemaszko) and Chavez y Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips) are deputized and ride forth in search of bloody vengeance for the death of their beloved mentor.
“Reap the whirlwind, Brady, Reap it.” – William H. Bonney
“We work for Mr. Tunstall as regulators. We regulate any stealing of his property. We’re damn good too! Mr. Tunstall’s got a soft spot for runaways, derelicts, vagrant types. But you can’t be any geek off the street, gotta be handy with the steel, if you know what I mean, earn your keep.” – Charley Bowdre
“See, you get three or four good pals. Well, then you’ve got yourself a tribe. And there ain’t nothing stronger than that.” – William H. Bonney
“I’m not a pistoleer or a knife-smith like that greaser Chavez Chavez over there. I’m a pugilist.” – Casey Siemaszko
