One night while walking through his corn field, Ray hears a voice whispering, “If you build it, he will come.” He thinks he is going crazy but continued hearing the voice and then sees a vision of a baseball diamond in his field.  He explains it to Annie who is skeptical but she allows him to plow the corn under to build a baseball field on their property.

Movie Quotes

“If you build it, he will come.” – The Voice
“We just don’t recognize life’s most significant moments while they’re happening. Back then I thought, “Well, there’ll be other days.” I didn’t realize that was the only day.” – Dr. Archibald ‘Moonlight’ Graham

“Fifty years ago, for five minutes you came within… y-you came this close. It would KILL some men to get so close to their dream and not touch it. God, they’d consider it a tragedy.” – Ray Kinsella
“Son, if I’d only gotten to be a doctor for five minutes… now that would have been a tragedy.” – Dr. Archibald ‘Moonlight’ Graham

“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good and it could be again.” – Terence Mann
