Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles is the story of Daniel Malloy (Christian Slater), a modern day San Francisco based reporter who is conducting an interview with Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt), who claims to be a vampire.

During the interview, Louis describes his human life as a wealthy plantation owner in 1791 Spanish Louisiana. Despondent and suicidal after the death of his wife and unborn child as a complication of childbirth, he meets Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise) while drunkenly wandering the waterfront of New Orleans. Lestat tells Louis he is a vampire and offers him the decision of either death or live as a vampire forever. Louis chose immortality over death and Lestat bit him and turned him into a vampire and they become companions.

Realizing what he has become, Louis refuses to take human life and is about to leave his violent maker, when Lestat, being the clever being he is, guilt’s him into into staying after he turns a little orphan girl named Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) into a vampire to make Louis stay but this new addition to the “family’ breeds even more conflict.

Movie Quotes

“Most of all I longed for death. I know that now. I invited it, a release from the pain of living. My invitation was open to anyone. Sailors, thieves, whores and slaves…but it was a vampire that accepted.” – Louis
“Which of you did it? Which of you made me the way I am?” – Claudia

“Death is no respector of age, it can come at any time, any place.” – Santiago

“Evil is a point of view, God kills indiscriminately…and so shall we. For no creatures under God are as we are and none so like him… as ourselves.” – Lestat
