Game Night is the story of Max (Jason Bateman) and Annie (Rachel McAdams) who are married and participate in a weekly game night with their friends. Game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s brother Brooks (Kyle Chandler) volunteers to host a murder mystery party complete with actors, hired goons and federal agents. Shortly after game night begins Agent Henderson (Jeffrey Wright) arrives at Brooks with FBI dossiers that will serve as clues that will lead them to go on a hunt for kidnappers, and the winner gets Brooks’s Corvette Stingray, which happens to be Max’s dream car.
However, two real kidnappers break in, knock out Agent Henderson and start attacking Brooks. Brooks fights the two men all around the house and is violently kidnapped in front of everyone and they all think it is part of the game. Everyone looks through Agent Henderson’s dossiers to read the clues to track down Brooks. After which, the group splits into pairs and tries to solve the mystery in their own way.
Max and Annie figure out their clue and using Brooks phone GPS, track his location down to a seedy bar downtown. Meanwhile, Sarah (Sharon Horgan) contacts the game hosts and she and Ryan (Billy Magnussen) go to their offices to try and bribe them into giving them additional clues to Brooks’s whereabouts so they can win the car. Michelle (Kylie Bunbury) and Kevin (Lamorne Morris) search for additional clues in Brooks’s house before going out to conduct their search for Brooks.
Shortly thereafter, Max and Annie find Brooks and discover the kidnapping was all real and that Brooks is involved in selling illegal items in the black market and was kidnapped to recover a stolen Faberge egg sought out by the Bulgarian (Michael C. Hall). Eventually the other learn what they’ve become involved in, they try to figure out the identity of the Bulgarian so they can rescue Brooks from his captors.
