Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is the story of San Diego’s top rated and most beloved newsman in the city during the 1970’s. Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is the anchor and heads the Channel 4 news team comprised of legendary baseball player and now sports reporter Champ Kind (David Koechner), dim witted but lovable weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) and notorious ladies’ man and in-the-field reporter Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd). The team has been the top rated news team for five years running and have had a good run at the top.

The TV station has recently embraced the feminist movement and introduced more diversity by hiring a beautiful ambitious reporter named Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate).  Ron and his team are visibly upset at the decision to add a woman to the broadcast.  Ron is willing to play along at first as long as Veronica stays in her place, covering cat fashion shows, cooking and other “female” interests.  But when Veronica refuses to settle for being just eye candy and a pretty face and demand a fair shot at being an anchor woman everyone laughs her off.  In the meantime, Ron has had a traffic altercation and was not going to make it to the studio in time for his broadcast.  Suddenly, Veronica demands to sit in for Ron and she nails it.  Tons of San Diegoan’s call in to voice their support of Veronica Corningstone and she is awarded the position of co-anchor.  Ron Burgundy becomes increasingly jealous of her increasing popularity, the animosity between them gets bigger and it results in a bitter feud.

Movie Quotes

“No, she gets a special cologne… It’s called Sex Panther by Odeon. It’s illegal in nine countries… Yep, it’s made with bits of real panther, so you know it’s good.” – Brian Fantana

“Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale’s vagina.” – Ron Burgundy
