Invincible is the story of Vincent Papale (Mark Wahlberg), a 30-year-old substitute school teacher and part-time bartender from South Philadelphia during the 1970’s.  Vince is down on his luck and after he loses his teaching position, his wife leaves him right when he needs the most support.  Vince and his buddies are all lifelong football fans and the Philadelphia Eagles are their team.  After a horrible season, the team switches gears and hires Dick Vermeil (Greg Kinnear), a new coach from UCLA and to shake things up, announces he is holding an open tryout for the team.  Vince’s friends encourage him to try out and even though he knows he has no chance, he joins the throngs of rabid fans to give it a shot.  At the tryout, Vince runs a 4.3 second 40 yard dash and impresses the new coach who invites Vince to participate in training camp with the team.  After a grueling six weeks of three a day practices, Vince gets called into the coaches office ready to be let go while coach Vermeil has other plans and offers Vince his last roster spot.  Vince’s wildest dreams come true and he became the oldest rookie in NFL history who never played football in college.
