Old School is the story of Mitch Martin (Luke Wilson), an attorney who upon returning from a business trip early, discovers his girlfriend Heidi (Juliette Lewis) participating in a gang bang orgy with a variety of people in their apartment. She explains that it is purely sexual but Mitch feels like his world has come undone and decides to end the relationship and move into a new place. Mitch finds a house near the campus of Harrison University, his former alma matter.
Meanwhile, one of Mitch’s best friends, Frank (Will Ferrell), is getting married and Mitch encounters his high school crush, Nicole (Ellen Pompeo) at the wedding party but he is drunk and spills a drink on her and doesn’t make much of an impression on her. Mitch’s other best friend Bernard (Vince Vaughn) owns a chain of electronic stores and Frank and Bernard decide to throw a party to get Mitch out of his funk and set up an event at Mitch’s new house and hang posters all over campus for what they term Mitch-A-Palooza and invite Snoop Dog to play at the party. The party is a huge success and puts Mitch and his friends on top of the campus social scene.
However, the party was out of control and is brought to the attention of the college dean, Gordon Prichard (Jeremy Piven), who just happens to know the three from High School. Dean Prichard then does his best to get Mitch thrown off campus and uses the fact that the residence is not school related as the excuse to evict them. The crafty friends decide to start a fraternity in the house in an attempt to recapture their glory days and keep Mitch located on campus.
