Paycheck stars Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart, Uma Thurman, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Joe Morton, Michael C. Hall, Kathryn Morris, Ivana Milicevic, Peter Friedman and Michelle Harrison.

Paycheck is the story of Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck), a master of reverse engineering who gets paid by large corporations to crack the secrets of their competitors’ products and how they work. His latest job took 2 months to complete and he was paid handsomely. However, in exchange for the large paycheck, he also agrees to have his memory of all the work on the project wiped from his brain.

Jennings is the best in the business and is approached by James Rethrick (Aaron Eckhart), tech billionaire and head of Allcom, who wants to discuss a huge potential job opportunity with a very large payday. Without divulging  anything about the project itself, Rethrick promises him it will probably earn him eight figures but could take 2 to 3 years to complete. In order to learn more, Michael must contractually agree to take the job before he would find out anything about the actual project itself. He would also have to agree to a complete memory wipe back to the project start date to protect the secrets of Allcom. Standard procedure in Michael’s business but that is more than anyone has ever wiped which was incredibly risky.

Michael weighs the trade off of the large paycheck in exchange for losing up to 3 years of his life and memories, maybe more if something goes wrong. However, eight figures is hard to refuse and Jennings agrees and begins immediately. A marker is implanted in his cortex to pinpoint the start of the project which will be used as the reference point for his memory wipe upon completion. The contract states he must stay at Allcom for the duration of the project and also must turn in all of his personal effects to be returned when the project is completed.

Michael completes the job and goes to have his memory erased and collect his paycheck and his personal effects. Once his memory is erased, he finds out the project took 3 years and he earned $90 million dollars during his time on the job. When he goes to claim it and his stuff, he discovers that before his memory wipe he had waived his rights to the money and rather than the belongings he had checked in, he was handed an envelope with miscellaneous and random objects inside. Confused and angry with no memory of what had transpired, he is escorted out of Allcom.

Soon after, Jennings is arrested by the FBI who state he committed some act of treason and murder while working at Allcom. He remembers nothing. But, while in custody, he manages to escape using some of the items in the envelope he was given. Now he is a fugitive being chased by the FBI while at the same time, Rethrick is also after him and Michael soon realizes that the fate of the entire world might be in his hands.

Movie Quotes

“Look, if we know anything, we know that time travel’s not possible. Einstein proved that. right?” – Shorty
“Time ‘travel’, yes. But Einstein was very clear that he believed time viewing, theoretically, could be accomplished.” – Michael Jennings
“Michael Jennings is not a super agent, he’s an engineer. Yet, somehow he managed to escape from a double-locked room. How? Was it fate? No. Fate was on our side. That means someone who knew, changed something.” – James Rethrick

A Fish Called Wanda is the story of four unlikely thieves who team up to plan and execute a large diamond heist in London worth £13 million. George Thomason (Tom Georgeson), a British gangster and his right-hand man Ken Pile (Michael Palin) recruit two arrogant Americans, Wanda Gerschwitz (Jamie Lee Curtis) a grifter and Otto West (Kevin Kline), a weapons expert to steal the diamonds.

When the job goes badly, Wanda and Otto plan to double cross George by having him arrested for the heist, while they abscond with the jewels. With an anonymous tip, they are able to get George arrested with him not knowing who tipped the police off. In the process, George is being implicated by an elderly eye witness named Eileen Coady (Patricia Hayes) who saw the whole thing.

With George in jail, Wanda and Otto go to the agreed upon hiding place only to discover that he in turn has protected his investment by moving the jewels to a different location with Ken being the only other person who knows where they are. While in custody, George tasks Ken, an animal lover with an extreme stuttering problem, with killing Mrs. Coady before she is able to testify against him, as she is the crown’s primary witness.

Meanwhile, Wanda has a plan of her own and she attempts to seduce George’s stuffy defense Barrister, Archie Leach (John Cleese), to find out where George hid the diamonds so she can double cross everyone and make off with the loot.

Movie Quotes

“To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people! I’ve known sheep who could outwit you. I’ve worn dresses with higher IQ’s. But you think you’re an intellectual don’t you, ape” – Wanda
“Apes don’t read philosophy.” – Otto
“Yes they do, Otto. They just don’t understand it.” – Wanda
“Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not ‘Every man for himself.’ And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked them up.” – Wanda

“Avoid the green ones. They’re not ripe yet.” – Otto

“Wanda, do you have any idea what it’s like being English? Being so correct all the time, being so stifled by this dread of, of doing the wrong thing, of saying to someone “Are you married?” and hearing “My wife left me this morning,” or saying, uh, “Do you have children?” and being told they all burned to death on Wednesday. You see, Wanda, we’re all terrified of embarrassment. That’s why we’re so… dead. Most of my friends are dead, you know, we have these piles of corpses to dinner. But you’re alive, God bless you, and I want to be, I’m so fed up with all this. I want to make love with you, Wanda. I’m a good lover – at least I used to be, back in the early 14th century. Can we go to bed?” – Archie Leach

A Good Year is the story Max Skinner (Russell Crowe), a London banker who inherits his Uncles estate in southeastern France. After his parents died in a tragic accident, young Max spent his childhood summer holidays with his Uncle Henry (Albert Finney), learning to appreciate the finer things in life.

25 years later, Max, a successful arrogant workaholic bond trader in London, learns of his uncles passing and that he is the sole beneficiary of the French chateau and vineyard where he spent much of his childhood. He travels to Provence to prepare a quick sale only to learn that the estate needs a lot of work to renovate it to be sold.

With no intention of keeping the estate, he plans to fix up the place cosmetically in a few days and then sell the entire lot. While working on the house he is surprised by the unexpected arrival of Christie Roberts (Abbie Cornish), who is backpacking through Europe and presents herself as Henry’s previously unknown illegitimate daughter looking for her long-lost father. Max fears that she might also lay claim to the estate and tries to keep her happy until she decides to leave.

Meanwhile, Max is also enamored of the very beautiful yet entirely feisty local cafe owner Fanny Chenal (Marion Cotillard), who is rumored to have sworn off men. He successfully woos Fanny, who leaves Max the next morning expecting him to return to his life in London. Christie, having learned that Max intends to betray Henry’s passion, leaves Provence, and Max sells the estate and returns to his life in London. Memories flood and Max immediately regrets betraying his uncle and forges a letter from Henry that states Christie has a valid claim to the property and returns to Provence to pursue a relationship with Fanny.

Movie Quotes

“A man should acknowledge his losses just as gracefully as he celebrates his victories. You’ll come to see that a man learns nothing from winning. The act of losing, however, can elicit great wisdom. Not least of which is, uh… how much more enjoyable it is to win. It’s inevitable to lose now and again. The trick is not to make a habit of it.” – Uncle Henry
“Forgive my lips. They find joy in the most unusual places.” – Max Skinner

“There’s something you should know about me, Max. I’m very, very choosy… I’m also very, very suspicious; very, very irrational, and I have a very, very short temper. I’m also extremely jealous and slow to forgive. Just so you know.” – Fanny Chenal

“My uncle loved women, although no one for a long time, and he never married. He loved England, yet lived in France. He was an adventurer, yet all my memories take place within 100 steps of this spot.” – Max Skinner

A Perfect Getaway is the story of Cliff (Steve Zahn) and Cydney (Milla Jovovich), an adventurous couple enjoying their honeymoon on Kauai while getting ready to hike a gorgeous 11-mile trail to a spectacular secluded beach. On their way, the couple stops for Cleo (Marley Shelton) and Kale (Chris Hemsworth), another pair of newlyweds trying to hitch a ride by the side of the road. Cliff gets intimidated by Kale and tells the couple they need to find another ride and Cliff and Cydney drive off.

Cliff and Cydney get to the trail head and begin their adventure. A short while into the hike, they get to a narrow ridge in the trail and are unsure they can make it across. While contemplating turning around, another hiker, Nick (Timothy Olyphant) shows up and demonstrates how to cross a particularly tricky section of the trail and the trio continue to walk together.

Further up the trail, the trio comes across a group of upset girls who were trying to get their cell phones to work after losing their signal while one girl was speaking to her father. On the call she learned that a young couple had been found dead in Honolulu. The victims had their teeth pulled out and fingerprints removed and the police are on the lookout for a man and a woman as suspects. As it turns out, Cliff and Cydney just came from there before they embarked on the trail and Nick mentions he was also just there.

The trio continues to hike when Nick decides to break off from them. He mentions that he just hiked back to get some things he forgot. Cliff and Cydney discuss whether they should stick with Nick who is walking back to his camp or if they should continue. Nick doesn’t mind either way. The couple was about to head off on their own when Cliff suddenly has a change of heart after spotting Cleo and Kale on the trail just below them. They stick with Nick and continue to a waterfall, where Nick’s girlfriend Gina (Kiele Sanchez) is lying down on a raft naked. Nick strips off his clothes and joins her in the water.

The next morning, the two couples trek their way towards the popular beach. It will not take them long to realize that both Nick and Gina are a little odd and suspiciously fit the description of the killers.

Walk the Line is the autobiographical story of Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) and his rise to fame in the 1950’s. A chronicle of Cash’s life, from his early childhood days growing up on an Arkansas cotton farm where he struggles under the scorn of his father (Robert Patrick) to his rise with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

While growing up in the Great Depression era, Johnny takes an interest in music. Anxious to leave Arkansas, when he was old enough he joined the Air Force and got stationed in Germany. While there, he buys his first guitar in a German music store and starts writing his own music.

After the Air Force, he returns home and proposes to Vivian (Ginnifer Goodwin) and they move to Memphis, Tennessee where Johnny works as an unsuccessful  door-to-door salesman who so desperately wants to be a musician and practices with his band consisting of Johnny and two mechanics who also play guitar and bass. They get together weekly to practice gospel songs.

While working as a salesman, he was walking when he hears music coming from an alley and he follows it to a small building with the back door open. He peeks in the door and sees Elvis Presley recording a song. The door is quickly shut but in that moment he discovers a man named Sam Phillips (Dallas Rogers) who can help him pursue his dreams.

Phillips agrees to give him and his band a tryout. Stopping them half way through their song, Phillips doesn’t believe the song touches Johnny and encourages him to play a song that would make a difference if he had only one shot at singing a song. He slowly starts playing a song he wrote while in the Air Force and Phillips loves it and they wind up making an entire record.

Soon after, Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two started playing on a short multi-city tour, promoting his songs. This is where he meets the already famous and beautiful June Carter (Reese Witherspoon). Trouble ensues as the tours get longer and his feelings for June get stronger. However, Cash’s volatile lifestyle and drug addiction threatens to keep them apart.

Movie Quotes

“If you was hit by a truck and you was lying out there in the gutter dying, and you had time to sing *one* song. Huh? One song that people would remember before you’re dirt. One song that would let God know how you felt about your time here on Earth. One song that would sum you up. You tellin’ me that’s the song you’d sing? That same Jimmy Davis tune we hear on the radio all day, about your peace within, and how it’s real, and how you’re gonna shout it? Or… would you sing somethin’ different. Somethin’ real. Somethin’ *you* felt. Cause I’m telling you right now, that’s the kind of song people want to hear. That’s the kind of song that truly saves people. It ain’t got nothin’ to do with believin’ in God, Mr. Cash. It has to do with believin’ in yourself.” – Sam Phillips

Aloha is the story of Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper), a combat-scarred military defense contractor on assignment in Oahu, Hawaii who is trying to reconnect with the space program.  Part of Brian’s assignment is to organize a traditional Hawaiian ritual blessing with the native Hawaiians for a new pedestrian gate project being funded by billionaire industrialist Carson Welch (Bill Murray).  Carson is also looking to develop nearby land into a space center to launch satellites.

While in Hawaii, Brian reconnects with his old girlfriend Tracy (Rachel McAdams).  But Tracy is married to an Air Force pilot named Woody (John Krasinski) and they have two kids and a happy life.

The Air Force assigned Allison Ng (Emma Stone) an Air Force fighter pilot as Brian’s liaison to escort him around the island.  As a native Hawaiian, Allison is a staunch defender of Hawaiians against the encroachments of Brian’s employer who is eager to militarize Hawaiian air space by a launching weapons satellite.

William Thatcher (Heath Ledger), Roland (Mark Addy) and Wat (Alan Tudyk) are squires for Sir Ector (Nick Brimble), a Knight who participates in medieval jousting tournaments. Unfortunately during a tournament, Sir Ector dies while napping between rounds.  William hatches a plan to pose as Sir Ector and finish the tournament so they could have some money and eat.  William dons the armor and mounts the steed and grabs a lance and proceeds to finish the last round.  He takes a lance to the helmet bending it to his head so when it was time to accept the trophies, he was not able to remove his helmet remaining anonymous.  William was hooked and decided he would participate in other tournaments as they worked their way back to London.

Along the way to the next tournament the 3 cross paths with a man walking naked who introduces himself as Geoffrey Chaucer (Paul Bettany) and describes himself as an author and poet and in his self accolades, mentions he has also produced Patents of nobility which are royal letters describing a family lineage and their English nobility.  William voices an interest and Chaucer agrees to trade some clothes, food and a ride on the horse for the Patents which would allow William to participate in future tournaments and Sir Ulrich Von Lichtenstein is born.  This starts them on a journey filled with deception, peril, love and failure as William meets a beautiful princess Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon), faces Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell) who is a daunting and evil jousting champion and forces William to come to grips with his humble beginnings.
